I need help with ruler work - so I tracked down an Handiquilter ruler expert. Debby Brown. When I mean 'track down' - I harassed the poor lady until she gave in. Debby is a busy busy lady teaching all around the world and for Handiquilter and she does a lot of work with her local quilt shop the Quilt Basket in Pawling, NY.
When I first began looking at longarm machines I chatted to Debby - and for a year I have bothered her with questions here and there and she has been nothing but sweet and helpful. So you are in for a treat if you get to meet this lady.
Debby at The Quilt Basket - count how many rulers she has ... (And this was only half the bag!)
I was very excited to make BIG perfect circles. I can promise you I'll be circling it up soon.
Random waves would look incredible on large areas of negative space.
Arched hatching.
We went over rulers - you would not believe the simplest things I had missed. It was like a ah ha moment when I learnt to keep your ruler on your ruler base at all times and that holding the ruler correctly ALWAYS helps. Honestly I have been quilting almost non stop for a year now and I have collected some really pretty rulers but I have been too scared to use them.
Next quilt. Rulers heaven - stay posted.
And I spotted this darling design on one of her quilts she showed me. I'm adding this to my design notebook for sure.
